A Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences history professor is part of a statewide class to lead Georgia’s environmental conservation efforts. History professor Albert “Bert” Way, Ph.D., is an environmental and agricultural historian who teaches the history of land use and conservation to Kennesaw State University students. This year, he is one of 30 people across the state selected to join the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership’s Class of 2025 (IGEL).

Well-traveled lobster the latest point of intrigue in Kennesaw State dean's research

Serendipity led Heather Koopman to study crustaceans. Patience led her to an impressive discovery. In August, the dean of Kennesaw State University’s College of Science and Mathematics’ research into the migratory and reproductive habits of lobsters in the Bay of Fundy yielded something remarkable – a lobster she tagged near the island of Grand Manan, New Brunswick, found her way to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, around 220 miles away.

Kennesaw State architecture students earn recognition in international design competition

With a vision that turned crumbling walls into works of art, a team of Kennesaw State University architecture students reimagined an old Italian villa and earned international recognition along the way. Gabriela Almeida, Wade Brock, Quincy Smith, and Justin Barkie – all students in Kennesaw State's College of Architecture and Construction Management – spent their summer transforming the ruins of history into a story of renewal. Their project, “When Walls Roam,” won the Community’s Choice Award in Terraviva Competitions’ Venetian Villa challenge, gaining praise from viewers worldwide.

Kennesaw State computer game design student leans into technology as educational tool for children

Long before she considered herself a computer game designer, Maria Elizabeth Cvetanoski understood the power of curiosity. Inspired by her son’s love of gaming, Cvetanoski enrolled at Kennesaw State University to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Computer Game Design and Development. Today, she sees game development as more than entertainment. It is a bridge to education, and she has spent years connecting her coursework with her passion for helping underprivileged children in South America.

Kennesaw State Honors student builds pathways to learning for children in Cameroon

As a young girl growing up in Cameroon, Kennesaw State University senior Jessica Tazanou saw firsthand how poverty kept many children from accessing basic needs such as food, health care, and education. A biology major who also studies in the Keeping Sights Upward Journey Honors College, Tazanou is the founder of Africa With No Limits, a summer program she launched in Cameroon to provide free learning opportunities for children who cannot afford to attend school.

Kennesaw State graduate student breaks ground with alligator research

The open mouth of an alligator contains a tiny but major clue to how these prehistoric predators may adapt to saltwater environments. Kennesaw State University graduate student Ben Angalet has gotten up close and personal with dozens of alligators to find the tongue glands that tell a crucial environmental tale about reptiles saltwater and climate change.
