Kennesaw State University alumnus Marc Feuerbach ‘07, who is Cartersville City Schools Superintendent, will represent Georgia at the national level in February at the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) meeting in Nashville.

Named 2026 Superintendent of the Year recently by the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) and Georgia School Superintendents Association (GSSA), Feuerbach is the state’s nominee for National Superintendent of the Year, an honor the AASA will announce Feb. 12.

Under Feuerbach’s leadership since 2018, Cartersville City Schools has achieved record-high graduation rates, strengthened community partnerships, and expanded student support systems. His tenure has been marked by a commitment to innovation, trust-building, and providing hope for students and families.

Feuerbach expressed gratitude for the statewide recognition and reflected on the role his education played in his success. He earned a Master of Education degree from the Clarice C. and Leland H. Bagwell College of Education at KSU in 2007, and serves on the college’s Board of Visitors.

“I am deeply honored to receive this award,” he said. “My time at Kennesaw State University was instrumental in shaping my approach to leadership and education. The experiences and mentorship I received there gave me the tools to think critically, lead with purpose, and always keep students at the center of every decision.”

Traci Redish, associate dean for strategic partnerships and priorities and professor of Instructional Technology, praised Feuerbach’s achievement and the impact on Georgia’s schools.

“Marc exemplifies the values we strive to instill in our graduates—innovation, integrity, and a student-first mindset,” Redish said. “His recognition as Superintendent of the Year is a testament to his dedication and the transformative leadership he brings to his district and community.”

Feuerbach’s career spans 23 years in education, including roles as a special education teacher, assistant principal, and principal. He has previously earned the President’s Award from GSSA in 2022 and the Impact Award from the Cartersville-Bartow Chamber in 2019.
