The fall Mentoring Moments for the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice began with an outstanding session with the Chief of Police for Cobb County, Chief Stuart VanHoozer.

On September 20, 2023, Chief VanHoozer met with several students to share his trek in life and law enforcement.  Sharing the challenges that he faced ensured students understand the need for tenacity and dedication to purpose.  Students shared their thoughts, challenges, and insight on law enforcement in American.  The evening was capped with Chief VanHoozer providing guidance on internships with Cobb Police and career direction.  Dr. Crowder, the Mentoring Moment coordinator, noted, "We have dedicated the fall mentoring moments to local law enforcement agencies.  Our next Mentoring Moment is planned for October 18."
