Professionals with Purpose: Breighlynn Polk 2:00pm at Carmichael Student Center, University Room A Join us for the next Radow College Professionals with Purpose event: Sounding the Silences through HBCU Radio - Reflections from the Inaugural Fellow - Breighlynn Polk
Breighlynn Polk was the inaugural fellow for the HBCU Radio Preservation Project and currently serves as Executive Director of the Iberian African American Historical Society. She earned a BA in history from Clark Atlanta University and MA in American Studies from Kennesaw State University. Much of Polk’s research and community work grows from her extensive oral history project chronicling the post-Jim Crow era lives of African Americans in the Louisiana South.

Tim Earley joined Make-A-Wish Georgia as CEO in December 2015, where he oversees all chapter operations, including programs, development, marketing, and finances. Under his leadership, the chapter has consistently increased wish granting, revenue, and brand awareness.
Before this role, Tim served as Vice President of Community Engagement for the American Cancer Society’s South Atlantic Division. He also spent several years at the national headquarters, where he built and led an award-winning Customer Experience (CX) team.
Tim’s professional background includes a decade in management consulting, focusing on customer experience strategy. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia and a Master’s of Science in Marketing from Georgia State University.

Randy Winston is the Creative Director of Fiction at The Black List and former Director of Writing Programs at The Center for Fiction. Winston previously served as Fiction Editor of Slice Literary Magazine and has over a decade of experience as an executive admin in higher education. Before his MFA, Randy was the editor-in-chief of, formerly SPSU, now KSU’s, online and print student publication. A 2016 graduate of the MFA program in Creative Writing (Fiction) at The New School, he sits on the board of trustees for Orion Magazine and WriteOn NYC.

How Canadian History Charts A Different Future for Psychedelics]() Psychedelic Canada, eh? How Canadian History Charts A Different Future for Psychedelics 12:30pm The word “psychedelic” was coined in Canada amidst the birth of its publicly funded healthcare system, Medicare; in the same decade, Canadian-based First Nations communities succeeded in securing legal rights to hold peyote ceremonies. As we face a new era of enthusiasm for psychedelic studies across North America amidst an opioid crisis and Indigenous reconciliation efforts, this lecture reflects on Canada’s role, past and present, in a psychedelic future.
This virtual lecture will be led by Dr. Erika Dyck, a professor and a Canada Research Chair in the History of Health & Social Justice at the University of Saskatchewan. She is the author or co-author of several books, including Psychedelic Psychiatry (2008); Managing Madness (2017); The Acid Room (2022); and Psychedelics: A Visual Odyssey (2024). She is the co-editor of Women & Psychedelics (2024) and Expanding Mindscapes (2023). Erika is the co-editor of two McGill-Queen’s University Press book series on the history of medicine and Intoxicating Histories. She is currently the President of the Alcohol and Drugs History Society.

Time Saving Strategies: Assessment, Engagement, and Student Success Strategies - Even in Your Largest Classes featuring award-winning educator Dr. Morton Ann Gernsbacher.
Dr. Gernsbacher is a Vitas Research Professor and the Sir Frederic Bartlett Professor at the University of Wisconsin. She was also the past President for the Association for Psychological Science. Dr. Gernsbacher is known for turning research into real-world teaching strategies that work - especially in large classes.
This session will provide practical, research-backed strategies to boost student participation, create a sense of community, and streamline assessment without adding to your workload.
