Kennesaw State University’s Bailey School of Music is proud to present PROJECT Trio on April 9 at 8:00 p.m. in Morgan Concert Hall in the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center. Combining the virtuosity of world-class artists with the energy of rock stars, PROJECT Trio is breaking down traditional ideas of chamber music.

Based in Brooklyn, N.Y., the Trio makes a big impact on audiences of all ages by blending their classical training with an eclectic taste in musical styles. For example, the ensemble just released a music video of Leonard Bernstein’s Mambo! from West Side Story. PROJECT Trio doesn’t want to be constricted as it crosses traditional musical thresholds and defies being boxed into any genres.

Playing out of the box hasn’t hurt them with their fans. Gramophone Magazine singled out the group as “an ensemble willing and able to touch on the gamut of musical bases ranging from Baroque to nu-Metal and taking in pretty much every stylism in between,” while The Wall Street Journal hailed the Trio for their “wide appeal, subversive humor, and first-rate playing.”

The Trio was forged out of a collective desire to draw new and diverse audiences by performing high-energy, top-quality music and utilizing the internet. Using primarily social media, the Trio has broadened their reach beyond the concert stage and classroom. The Trio’s YouTube channel has over 85 million views and 100,000 subscribers, making the group one of the most watched instrumental ensembles online.

Blending their classical training with an eclectic taste in musical styles, PROJECT Trio has made an impact on audiences of all ages. Bursting onto the scene with their landmark videos, PROJECT Trio is a musical experience that defines a new level of entertainment.

Patrons are in for an exuberant evening filled with contagious energy and excitement, one “packed with musicianship, joy and surprise” that seeks to excite “a new generation of listeners about the joys of classical and jazz music,” according to DownBeat Magazine

Bailey School of Music director Dr. Jesús Castro Balbi says, “PROJECT Trio brings a modern and engaging angle to music performance that connects the Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music with today’s world. We invite you to join us for this unique experience!”

PROJECT Trio will perform on Saturday, April 9, at 8 p.m. in Morgan Concert Hall of the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center on the KSU Kennesaw campus. Tickets are $5 to $10 and may be purchased online or by calling Patron Services at 470-578-6650.
