Register now for Summer Art Intensives.

Kennesaw State University’s (KSU) College of the Arts is excited to announce the return of its Summer Arts Intensives this summer. The programs will provide young artists an opportunity to see where their art can take them beyond high school. Participants will be challenged to improve their skills and develop their own artistic voices in acting, art and design, dance, music, and musical theatre during the first week of June.

New this year, the School of Music will host two unique workshops: the Summer Brass Workshop and the Middle School Choral Intensive. The Middle School Choral Intensive is the only Summer Arts Intensive program offered to rising sixth through graduating eighth graders and is a unique opportunity for young musicians in those grades to gain insight into performing in professional settings while honing their singing skills. The Summer Brass Workshop exposes high school students to ensemble work and provides sectional sessions to work on their specific brass instrument. Each of the music intensives will end with a concert performance that includes KSU faculty.

Acting and musical theatre students may take the stage for the intensives offered by the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies. Students will have the opportunity to improve their performance skills at a collegiate level and showcase their talents in a performance at the end of the intensive. Young dancers may experience in a wide variety of dance styles with the Department of Dance, including ballet, jazz, and African dance, culminating in a student dance concert at the end of the week. The School of Art and Design offers young visual artists a unique program with a wide variety of concentrations including painting, digital animation, and sculpture. With direction from KSU faculty and students, visual artists will challenge their skills and bolster their portfolios, culminating in a pin-up show of their work.

The College of the Arts Summer Arts Intensives are a fantastic opportunity for young artists to learn more about their passion in a collegiate setting. The intensives run June 1-5, excluding the Summer Brass Workshop, which runs June 1-3, and lunch is provided in these full-day workshops. All of the intensives are for rising 9th graders through graduating seniors, with the exception of the Middle School Choral Intensive for rising sixth through graduating eighth graders.
