SoTL Evaluation

CETL offers comprehensive support for faculty engaged in SoTL research. We guide you through every stage of your project, from its initial concept to final submission, assisting with identifying baseline data, selecting appropriate data collection methods, data analysis, and reporting.  

• Baseline Data
  • Assist in identifying baseline data to serve as a point of reference for evaluating project impact.
• Identifying Comparison Groups
  • Assist in selecting relevant comparison groups/timeframes  
• Data Collection Tools
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop effective data collection tools such as surveys, rubrics, interview protocols, observation checklists, and reflective journals.
• Data Analysis
  • CETL provides individualized data analysis assistance and support, extending and building upon the resources offered through Hopscotch 4-SoTL.  During consultations, CETL staff help faculty identify the most appropriate qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods research approaches based on the project’s scope and research questions.

  • One-on-one consultation to help you develop a strong evaluation plan aligned with your project goals and funding requirements—before submitting your SoTL grant proposal. 
• Formative Assessment 
  • Assistance integrating assessment checkpoints throughout the project to gather actionable feedback and support real-time adjustments. 
• Summative Evaluation 
  • Support conducting end-of-project evaluations to assess outcomes and effectiveness. Useful for decisions about modifying programs and assessing broader impacts. 
• Communicating Evaluation Findings 
  • Guidance in interpreting & sharing project results clearly & effectively using data to drive decision-making and foster continuous improvement.
