The HMI Hackathon – Coding Today for the Health of Tomorrow is a statewide, in-person innovation competition bringing together undergraduate and graduate students from across Georgia to develop AI-driven solutions to real-world healthcare challenges. Through interdisciplinary teamwork, mentorship from industry and academic leaders, and live pitching, students will explore how artificial intelligence can improve patient outcomes, healthcare operations, and health equity—all while networking and competing for prizes.

We will provide continental breakfast each morning, and lunch will be provided both days.

What You Can Win

A panel of judges will evaluate each pitch, awarding the following prizes:

1st Place: Meta Quest VR Headset
2nd Place: Sony Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones
3rd Place: Portal External 2TB Hard Drive

Who Can Participate?

The HMI Hackathon is open to all USG students. Undergraduate and graduate students from any discipline are welcome, especially those with interest in healthcare, AI, or data analytics. No prior experience required, just curiosity and teamwork.

Register Your Interest

All students who want to participate in the HMI Hackathon should register by February 16, 2026.

Participants will compete in teams between three and five students. We welcome individual participants, though they will be assigned to teams prior to the event by the HMI Team.

All Team members must complete their own registration.
