Mental Health Day Nature Walk, October 10th, 2024

Connecting with nature has been proven to deliver positive mental health benefits. To capitalize on these benefits, and to remind people that taking nature breaks during times of stress can be an important mental health strategy,  On October 10th, World Mental Health Day, we scheduled a for a relaxing and restorative walk along the KSU Walking Trail at 390 Big Shanty Road (The Perch).

UnCANny Creations, November 4th, 2024

The UnCANNy Creations food kicked off as part of the 365 Days of Learning & Service initiative. The stress of food insecurity can have a significant impact on a person’s mental health. We are motivated to collect as much food as we can to help alleviate food insecurity for our students and, in the process, put minds at ease regarding where the next meal is coming from. Now in its third year, the drive culminates in teams building sculptures with the collected items in the UnCANny Creations Sculpture competition.

This annual drive is not only about giving back; it is a means to focus attention on how we build more sustainable communities, with the hope of making drives such as this less necessary in the future. As part of our commitment to learning and service, we continue to support the United Way of Greater Atlanta and community members in need.
