This spring, Kennesaw State University’s Mock Trial team, the Mocking Owls, demonstrated exceptional talent and determination with a season full of impressive accomplishments. On January 25–26, our veteran team competed in the University of Arkansas’s Mock Hogs Invitational, earning an outstanding 2nd place finish with a record of 6 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie. A special congratulations goes to Logan Wyatt, who was recognized with an Outstanding Witness Award and achieved a perfect score of 20.

Both veteran and rookie teams advanced to compete in the American Mock Trial Association’s regional tournament in Columbia, South Carolina on February 15–16. The veteran team stood out, securing three individual awards: Jaida Kelley as an Outstanding Attorney, and Rory Manley and Ariel Mattis as Outstanding Witnesses. Their performance also earned them a bid to American Mock Trial Association ‘s (AMTA) Opening Round Championship Series (ORCS), a significant milestone for the team. Adding to the success, rookie team captain Jordyn Jones earned an Outstanding Attorney Award, a remarkable achievement for a first-year competitor.

In March, co-captain Jaida Kelley also won an outstanding attorney award at the Bell Tower Tournament at Furman University. More than 200 students compete at this AMTA tournament and only 10 students earn outstanding attorney recognition. She has made remarkable contributions throughout her time with the team and concluded her four-year journey on an outstanding high note!

The Mocking Owls continue to raise the bar, showcasing their dedication, professionalism, and competitive excellence while proudly representing Kennesaw State University on a national stage.
