Earn Academic Credit for Your Internship

POLS 3398: Internship in Government and International Affairs and POLS 3396: Co-Op in Government and International Affairs give students the opportunity to earn academic credit while gaining hands-on experience in government, nonprofits, law, and related fields. Guided by faculty mentorship and reflective assignments, students connect their coursework with professional practice and develop the skills, confidence, and networks to succeed beyond the classroom. Students may earn up to 12 credit hours and can apply to earn course credit during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.

  • The Burruss Institute internships are an excellent way to gain first-hand experience in social science research. An intern at the Burruss Institute benefits from the many ongoing projects that are underway throughout a semester. This gives interns the ability to work on several different projects and gain experience in different areas. At the Burruss Institute interns are not coffee getters and copy makers. You are expected to take an active role in the completion of research projects under the guidance of professional researchers.
