Artificial Intelligence & Writing Technologies

The “Writing and AI Technologies” certificate program prepares students for AI-infused workplaces through an academically rigorous curriculum. This program offers in-depth training in the application of AI tools in writing practices, focusing on ethical considerations. The course of study entails a genre-based approach to AI applications, resulting in applied projects in the student’s chosen area of focus. Students will develop a sophisticated understanding of AI’s role in content creation and composing strategies, ensuring they are well-equipped to integrate these technologies effectively and responsibly in professional settings.

About the Certificate

  • Required Course (3 credit hours)

    • PRWR 6141: Prompt Engineering for Writers

    Elective Courses (6 credit hours)

    Choose from two (2) of the following courses: 

    • PRWR 6125: Game Narrative Design
    • PRWR 6151: Digital Storytelling
    • PRWR 6153: Writing with AI
    • PRWR 6440: Professional and Academic Editing
    • PRWR 6570: Writing for Social Media
    • PRWR 6730: Digital Tools for Diverse Writing

    Program Total (9 credit hours)

    Apply through Graduate Admissions

    Add-On a Certificate to Degree/Certificate

    • Complete the top portion of the Request for Add-On Certificate form and email it to gradcollegeforms@kennesaw.edu, copying the Certificate Coordinator and MAPW Academic Program Support Specialist (see below).
    • All requests to add a certificate to your record must be submitted no later than four weeks prior to the beginning of the semester.
    • You may earn up to two (2) certificates at a time.
  • The final steps in wrapping up the certificate are to:

    1. Apply to graduate the semester you are completing the certificate.
    2. Respond to a brief set of exit questions.
    3. To compile a brief portfolio of work representing your work in the certificate program.

    These materials must be emailed to the certificate coordinator by the last day of class of your graduating semester.
