The HPC is now a KSU research core.  The decision for this was not to restrict the work that needs to be done but rather serve as a way to recoup some of the costs it takes to provide this resource.  When your project's budget can afford it, please write your HPC research core costs into your future proposals.

There is a pilot phase scheduled to begin June 1.  After its satisfactory completion, an official launch date will be announced.

Getting started with the new HPC (VHPC)

Technical Details about the KSU HPC can be found at https://hpcdocs.kennesaw.edu/vhpc/

There is VHPC QuickStart information availab for new users.

Accounts on the HPC (VHPC)

To request access to use the new HPC (VHPC), use the forms for billable accounts and service.

The HPC cluster only allows login through KSU NetID authentication.

Only KSU faculty members can request accounts on the HPC.  If the requesting faculty member does not have an HPC account, they should request it for themselves first.

Faculty members with an HPC account can request accounts for a KSU student or set of students.Faculty members can request an HPC account for an non-KSU member, but they will need to work with HR to register a visitor and obtain a NetID for the visitor.

UITS will typically create the requested accounts within 1-2 business days after the completion of their Docusign agreement(s).

HPC (VHPC) Core Rates
Service Aspect KSU User Rate
CPU utilization $0.03 per CPU core per hour
GPU utilization (1 GPU = 4 cores) $0.12 per GPU per hour
Memory utilization $0.004 per GB per hour

Formula = max(GPUs * GPU rate + CPUs * CPU rate, Memory * Memory rate) * time

Note: to determine the billable amount for a job, two questions are considered.  1) Did the job utilize all the CPU cores of a node (48) thereby making the GPUs (16 additional cores) unavailable?  2) Did the memory utilization exceed 8 GB per CPU core?
