Thanks to our location within the Atlanta area, the Department of Theatre & Performances Studies sustains strong connections and partnerships with numerous professional theatres. Students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of artistic, administrative, and design/technical internships. Our partnerships and internships often lead to future employment opportunities and collaborative productions. Below are just a few of our partners:

We invite you to explore the websites of our professional partners below and encourage prospective students to make internships an integral part of your time at KSU. As just a few examples: Every summer students have the opportunity to study acting at The Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin Ireland, one of our first partners. The Alliance Theatre offers educational internships that often lead to teaching opportunities. In 2014, TPS co-produced a world premier adaptation of The Red Badge of Courage with 7 Stages that featured student actors, designers, and stage managers, and we are planning more co-productions in the future. Aurora Theatre, Center for Puppetry Arts, and Georgia Ensemble Theatre offer opportunities for TPS students to pursue acting and administrative internships; Serenbe Playhouse has created design internship opportunities; Synchronicity Theatre is a popular destination for gaining experience in arts administration, marketing, and development; and Dad’s Garage ensemble members work regularly with our improvisation group K.I.S.S. In fall of 2014, TPS joined True Colors as one of the hosts for the August Wilson Monologue Competition. These and other organizations work with us to create experiential education that aligns with our students’ career goals. We are proud of the significant number of TPS alumni working in many of these theatres as actors, technicians, designers, stage managers, arts administrators, and educators.
