  • There are two degree programs at KSU that offer a Major in Information Security/Cybersecurity at KSU. For details on each, visit the home department's information page via the links provided.
    Kennesaw State is Ranked #1 in Online Security Bachelor's Degrees at CyberDegrees.org.

    The Department of Homeland Security and the National Security Agency have jointly designated Kennesaw State University as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education with specialized focus areas in Security Policy Development & Compliance and Systems Security Administration. Students graduating with a BBA-ISA will earn a special certificate denoting this fact, with an annotation of the Security Policy Development & Compliance focus.  Students who also take certain elective coursework will also have their certificate annotated with the Systems Security Administration focus area.

     

    BBA-Information Security and Assurance (Online or Hybrid) in the Coles College of Business

    The purpose of the Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Information Security and Assurance (BBA-ISA) program is to create technologically proficient, business-savvy information security professionals capable of applying policy, education & training, and technology solutions to protect information assets from all aspects of threats, and to manage the risks associated with modern information usage. Information security is the protection of the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information while in transmission, storage or processing, through the application of policy, technology, and education and awareness. Information assurance concerns information operations that protect and defend information and information systems by ensuring availability, integrity, authentication, confidentiality, and nonrepudiation. This program spans both areas in its approach to the protection of information in the organization.

  • Online Bachelor Of Science In Information Technology At The College Of Computing And Software Engineering

    The BSIT is a broad-based program designed to give you a solid grounding in all aspects of IT. It’s composed of 43 credit hours of General Education (e.g. Math, Science, English, History), 18 credit hours in lower division IT Major requirements (e.g. Programming, Statistics, etc.), 41 credit hours in upper division Major requirements (e.g. Database Systems, Networks, Policy, etc.). However, you’ll also have the option to take 4 technical electives in Information Assurance and Security and 7 credit hours in free electives. Enrollment numbers for the BSIT have been steadily climbing since 2011.

     

    Online Bachelor Of Applied Science In Information Technology At The College Of Computing And Software Engineering

    The BASIT is a completion program designed for students who already hold an Associate of Applied Science in Computing (AAS) from a member institution of the Technical College System of Georgia. You’ll be required to complete 80 credit hours (~2-3 years of full-time study) in IT major courses (e.g. Database Systems) and your concentration (i.e. Info Security).

  • Information Security and Assurance Minor

    The Minor in Information Security and Assurance is designed for students with an interest in Information Security and its application in the expanding field of technology. The Minor emphasizes the skills and knowledge necessary to protect and inspect systems, and to detect and react to threats to the security of information in those systems. The Minor requires 18 semester hours (6 courses), and all coursework must be completed with a grade of "C" or higher.

     

    Cybersecurity Minor

    The Minor in Cybersecurity addresses students with an interest in the application of information security controls on information systems. The Minor emphasizes the skills and knowledge necessary to defend networks and systems, and to detect and react to threats to those systems. The Minor requires 18 semester hours (6 courses), and all coursework must be completed with a grade of "C" or higher.

  • FinTech Certificate

    FinTech is the technology that makes electronic banking possible including everything from Gift cards, debit cards, credit cards, ATMs, and the phone apps you use to electronically transfer money to your friends or pay bills. Fintech allows you to invest, insure, and bank from your mobile device without ever having to set foot in a building. Courses in financial technology prepare you for a high-demand career in areas such as information technology, cybersecurity, data science, and business.

     

    Graduate Certificate in Information Security and Assurance - Stand-Alone and Embedded

    The Graduate Certificate in Information Security and Assurance program in information security and assurance is designed for both technology and non-technology graduate students. It encompasses four existing courses (12 credit hours). Admission to the MS-IS program is required to pursue this certificate.

     

    Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Security - Stand-Alone and Embedded

    The Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Security Program is designed for IT professionals who have a bachelor's degree or have taken the Information Technology Foundations Graduate Certificate (or the equivalent through other coursework) to advance their knowledge in the field of information security. Students graduating with this program will have a strong background in fundamental principles and applications of computer security, as well as hands-on experience with security tools commonly used in industry.

     

    Undergraduate Certificate in Information Security and Assurance - Stand-Alone and Embedded

    The Certificate in Information Security and Assurance is designed for students with an interest in Information Security and its application in the expanding field of technology. The certificate program emphasizes the skills and knowledge necessary to protect and inspect systems, and to detect and react to threats to the security of information in those systems. The certificate requires 15 semester hours (5 courses), and all coursework must be completed with a "C" or better.

     

    Undergraduate Certificate in Cybersecurity - Stand-Alone and Embedded

    The Certificate in Cybersecurity is designed for students with an interest in the security of computer networks and systems and their application in the expanding field of technology. The certificate program emphasizes the skills and knowledge necessary to protect and inspect systems, and to detect and react to threats to the security of information in those systems. The certificate requires 15 semester hours (5 courses), and all coursework must be completed with a "C" or better.
