  • Professor's professional experiences motivate his teaching

David Veazie knows what it feels like to be a minority student considering a career in engineering. It wasn’t that long ago he was one. As program director for Kennesaw State’s Peach State Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (PSLSAMP) program in Marietta, Veazie has played a direct role increasing the number of underrepresented students who complete degrees in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields through mentorship and research opportunities.  –  July 15, 2020

  • Anthropologist, sport scientist join forces for bone health study

One professor studies the bones of the deceased, the other studies the bones of the living. They will combine their expertise on a study about how exercise fosters bone health. Alice Gooding, associate professor of anthropology at Kennesaw State University’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences and an avid runner, and Yuri Feito, associate professor of exercise science in KSU’s Wellstar College of Health and Human Services, met last year during a new summer research fellowship program in KSU’s Office of Research.  –  July 13, 2020

  • Decentralized Science Lab launches cutting-edge computing research

Recently, Kennesaw State University assistant professor Reza Parizi came across email from a former student in his inbox. Now a graduate student at the University of Georgia, Gianni Orlando thanked Parizi for allowing him to conduct research in the Kennesaw State’s Decentralized Science Lab (DSL), where he performed AI related research alongside faculty experts. “If it wasn’t for the work I conducted in the DSL, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” he said. Like Orlando, there are more than a dozen students each semester who conduct research in the lab under the guidance of computer science and software engineering faculty in KSU’s College of Computing and Software Engineering. The lab, founded in 2018 by Parizi, is responsible for cutting-edge research into decentralized computing concepts and their enabling technologies to provide cybersecurity solutions across multidisciplinary domains, such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and internet of things.  –  July 08, 2020
