FLIGHT Programming

A cornerstone of the FLIGHT Program’s mission is fostering meaningful connections between students and the broader campus community. By actively supporting and collaborating with various programs, student organizations, student life, and campus resources, FLIGHT ensures that students are not only aware of available opportunities but also feel supported in their journey to becoming fully engaged members of the university. Through intentional efforts to build bridges, FLIGHT helps students discover avenues to pursue their passions, develop leadership skills, and establish a strong sense of belonging within the KSU community.

FLIGHT PILLARS

The FLIGHT Program at Kennesaw State University is grounded in four core pillars that are essential to fostering student success and shaping a dynamic, inclusive campus experience. These pillars—Community/Belonging, Connections, Engagement, and Support—guide the program’s efforts to enhance retention, progression, and graduation rates by addressing students’ social, academic, and personal development needs throughout their collegiate journey.

Perhaps the most critical pillar, a strong sense of belonging directly impacts a student’s decision to stay at the university. FLIGHT fosters a culture of inclusion and community through initiatives like the Senior Cookout, the Runout at football games, and targeted support for residential students. By making students feel valued and supported, FLIGHT helps create a positive and affirming environment that encourages them to invest in their own success.
Meaningful engagement in campus activities and programs promotes a sense of ownership and pride in the KSU experience. FLIGHT’s initiatives, such as athletics events, mentoring dinners, and collaborative programming with campus partners, provide students with diverse opportunities to actively participate in university life. Students who are engaged are more likely to remain enrolled, perform well academically, and persist toward graduation.

Support is a vital pillar that ensures students are equipped to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. FLIGHT connects students to timely, personalized resources that foster academic success, emotional well-being, and personal development. Whether through workshops, coaching, or collaboration with student services, the program helps students build resilience and access the help they need—when they need it most.
