Neurodivergent and Friends!
At Counseling & Psychological Services, we believe in the power of groups! For many of the issues college students face, group therapy has been shown to be the most effective treatment approach. For example, in struggles with relationships, stress, anxiety, and other emotional concerns, group therapy can be more effective than individual counseling. Experiencing counseling in a group setting is helpful when trying to understand your own situation by giving you an opportunity to learn from others. It can also be therapeutic to understand there are others experiencing similar situations and that you are not alone. Neurodivergent & FriendsNeurdivergent and Friends is an inclusive group dedicated to supporting neurodiverse students through workshops, peer connections, and community events. Whether you're neurodivergent or an ally, everyone is welcome to join, learn, and grow together in a safe, empowering space. This is a collaboration between SDS and CAPS. Marietta Campus: Neurodivergent & Friends will meet bi-weekly in-person on Tuesdays from 2:00 pm-3:00 pm in room 216 in the Joe Mack Wilson Student Center.
Color and Collage
Join the Peer Counselors with a fun and engaging afternoon of creating vision boards, coloring, and collages. All supplies will be provided and no art experience is required. Let's CREATE!!
Send Silence Packing
Counseling and Psychological Services and Wellbeing@KSU is proud to be partnering with Active Minds (activeminds.org), the nation’s leading nonprofit working to change the culture around mental health, to bring Send Silence Packing (activeminds.org/ssp) to the Kennesaw Campus. Send Silence Packing is an exhibit that inspires action around suicide by sending the message that you are not alone, help is available, and we each play a critical role in changing the culture around mental health. We invite you to explore the backpack display on Tuesday, March 17, 10 AM to 4 PM, on the Campus Green and to visit Behind the Backpacks (activeminds.org/backpacks), an interactive virtual experience that shares powerful audio stories and engaging, action-oriented ideas for how to change the culture around mental health in your community. Please note the display explores themes of mental health and suicide and includes personal stories of people who have been lost to suicide. We will have mental health professionals available to speak to onsite in the event that the experience evokes distress.
