Speaker Biography:
Grover Norquist is a leading American political activist and strategist known for his longstanding commitment to fiscal conservatism. He holds both a B.A. in economics and an MBA from Harvard University. He is a nationally recognized leader in tax policy and fiscal reform. In 1985, he founded Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) at the request of President Reagan’s administration to advocate for lower taxes and limited government. Under his leadership, ATR has become one of the most influential organizations shaping tax policy in Washington.
Norquist is best known as the architect of the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, a commitment signed by the majority of Republican lawmakers to oppose any and all tax increases. This pledge has played a pivotal role in defining modern fiscal conservatism and influencing legislative priorities across the country.
In addition to his work at ATR, Norquist convenes the widely attended "Wednesday Meeting", a strategic gathering of conservative leaders and policymakers that has served as a hub for advancing free-market principles for over three decades. Beyond policy circles, Norquist has served on the boards of the NRA and the American Conservative Union and contributes regularly to publications like The American Spectator. He is also a frequent commentator on fiscal issues and the author of several books, including Leave Us Alone, Debacle: Obama’s War on Jobs and Growth, and End the IRS Before It Ends Us.
