      Description

"More Than Just a Job” challenges the idea that entry-level roles are merely placeholders and shows how early experiences can become powerful career launchpads. In this session, Tyler Parham—a talent development and career development professional with Chick-fil-A, will share how roles in fast food, retail, and other frontline or part-time jobs can be transformed into compelling career stories that stand out on a resume.

Drawing on his work in Chick-fil-A’s Talent Development Program and his previous experience as a Career & Internship Advisor at Kennesaw State University, Tyler brings a unique perspective on what employers really value. He has coached hundreds of students on resumes, interviewing, and navigating the transition from college to career, and is especially passionate about helping individuals recognize their strengths and confidently position themselves in a competitive job market.

Attendees will leave with practical strategies to reframe experiences from jobs like restaurant team member, shift leader, cashier, or sales associate, highlighting transferable skills such as leadership, customer service, problem-solving, and teamwork.

      Lecture with Grover Norquist
      Lecture with Grover Norquist
      2:30am
      at Burruss Building, 151

In his lecture, Grover Norquist outlines the central argument of his book: that the modern Republican and conservative coalition is fundamentally a “Leave Us Alone” coalition. He asserts that what unifies these groups is a shared desire for the government to minimize interference in key areas of their lives—particularly their money, their guns, and their personal freedoms.

Norquist contrasts this with what he describes as the Democratic coalition, which he characterizes as more fractious because it consists of groups that seek government engagement, resources, or regulation to achieve their goals. According to Norquist, this structural difference explains why conservatives tend to unify more easily around smaller government principles, while Democrats face more internal tension among constituencies competing for government action.
