CS High School Internship Program at Kennesaw State University, Marietta

This internship program is designed for high school students currently enrolled in a high school internship course who have an interest in conducting computer science research alongside faculty members at KSU. The program entails on-site research commitments for a minimum of three days a week, with each session lasting at least three hours for regular semesters with double the hours over summers (flexible according to school schedules). Students should anticipate occasional work on nights and weekends as required.

Throughout the semester, students are expected to draft a research paper documenting their findings and submit it to a conference or workshop chosen by their mentor for potential publication by the end of the internship. Additionally, mentors may assign supplementary tasks deemed necessary for the research project. While on campus, students will have access to computer labs and scheduled meetings with their mentors. They will also be provided with a KSU ID and email account for accessing digital libraries like ACM and IEEE Xplore, as well as parking facilities. Transportation arrangements, including parking permits if necessary, are the responsibility of the students. Students will not be paid nor pay to participate in the internship program.

Regular meetings with mentors, including oral presentations of research progress, are expected to occur at least once a week. Selected students will engage in research projects under faculty supervision, gaining hands-on experience in various research activities such as literature surveys, algorithm design, data analysis, programming, and drafting research papers for potential publication in conferences or workshops.
