When you arrive on campus, check our Welcome Website for important housing resources,
information about our Move-In Events and more!

We are very excited you have chosen to live on campus for Fall 2024! Students can see their designated Move-In arrival time ticket in the Housing Portal. When your time ticket opens, you can select a Move-In arrival day and time.

Pre-Arrival Checklist

To make your Move-In process as smooth as possible, please familiarize yourself with the Move-In Pre-Arrival Checklist below. Each item on this list must be completed by your Move-In Day.

  • Select a Move-In day and time in the Housing Portal when your time ticket opens. Time tickets will open on Monday, July 15.
  • To upload a photo for your Talon Card, follow the instructions provided here. Once approved, you will receive an email to your KSU account with details on how to add your Talon Card to your device's digital wallet. This must be completed by July 31, 2024.

  • This PIN is necessary to enter your room. Please see this document for information on how to set up and change your 6-digit Lock Access PIN. We recommend students set up their PIN after they register for classes.
  • Submit your immunization record (including Meningitis) online or in person at the Enrollment Customer Service Center.
  • Pay your Fall 2024 semester tuition and fees by the payment deadline at 4:00 PM on August 16, 2024, which includes on-campus living fees for the semester. Visit the Bursar's website for more information.
  • If you're bringing a car to campus, purchase a Residential Parking Permit using the Parking Portal 24-hours after registering for classes.

Move-In Day Process

We can't wait to see you on campus! Move-In day is one of the most exciting days of the year. As you and your guests prepare to make your way to campus, here are a few tips to make your day as smoothe as possible.

  • To reschedule your Move-In arrival time, follow these instructions:

    1. Log in to the Housing Portal
    2. Select the "Schedule My Arrival" tab in the gold menu bar.
    3. Click the blue "Continue" button.
    4. Select the "Cancel button next to your Move-In arrival time. You will receive an email confirming this cancellation.
    5. You may now select a new arrival time.
    • Arrive at your check-in location during your selected Move-In arrival time. Use the Move-In maps to find the correct place.
    • If you are traveling in a separate vehicle from your parent/guest, follow the "student" route to your check-in location. Your parent/guest should drive directly to your community's unloading zone by following the "parent" route.
    • If you are traveling in one vehicle, follow the "student" route to your check-in location before going to your community's unloading zone.
    • First-Year students should be ready to present their Mobile Talon Card on your device during Check-In.

Upper Class students should be sure to have an ID document (current US driver’s license, current passport, current US government ID) or their physical Talon Card ready to present during Check-In.

    • Once you are checked in, follow the signs from your check-in location to your community's unloading zone.
    • Review the How to Open Your Door flyer in your check-in packet and follow the Update Your Talon Card instructions BEFORE going to your unit. There are HotSpots located near the entrance to each residence hall.
    • Unload your vehicle(s) as quickly as possible.
    • Moving bins are provided, but we encourage you to bring wagons and dollies to make moving easier. Kindly limit your bin use to one hour.
    • Please move your vehicle as soon as you finish unloading to make room for other residents who are arriving.
    • If you need assistance, find a volunteer in a "Nest Builder" T-shirt or a staff member.
    • If you have questions throughout the day, stop by one of the Information Tents.
    • Once you arrive at your unit, enter your 6-digit Lock Access PIN and then present your Talon Card (mobile or physical) to your lock to enter your room.
    • You will find a magnet in your unit with emergency contact information.
    • Visit the Welcome webpage for important information to get you acclimated to campus living.
    • If you forget something, don't worry! Visit The Market on the Kennesaw Campus or the KSU Bookstore on each campus for any last-minute essentials.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • After the Check-In process for Move-In has closed, you will receive an email with important late arrival information.

If you arrive after 4:00 PM on August 7, 8 or 9, please complete Express Check-In through the Housing Portal before going to your room.

For instructions on how to complete Express Check-In, check out our guide below.

    Express Check-In Guide

  • We kindly ask that students bring no more than 2-3 people to help them move in. While we know this is an exciting event for the whole family, our hallways can get a little cramped, and we want to make sure you have a pleasant Move-In experience.
  • To make the Move-In process as smooth as possible, we ask that you please bring no more than one car for the resident and one car for their guest(s)—two (2) vehicles total. Please do not bring U-Hauls or moving trucks; they will not fit in our unloading zones and are not allowed.
  • If you are only planning to bring one car on Move-In Day, please follow the student route to ensure that your student completes the check-in process.
  • Unfortunately, Housing and Residence Life cannot accommodate any Early Move-In requests unless you are in a special population, including but not limited to “The Marching Owls” and Panhellenic Recruitment. Students who are participating in these groups received Early Move-In communications. See the corresponding Early Move-In web pages for more information related to Move-In for these groups.
  • To maintain a smooth flow of our Move-In operations, we cannot allow residents to check in outside of the 30-minute window they selected for their Move-In arrival time. If you need to reschedule, you can do so through the Housing Portal up to 48 hours before your scheduled Move-In arrival time.
  • No, the 30-minute window is the time you need to arrive to check in.
  • You can reach your roommate(s) through the Housing Portal. Here is how:

    1. Log in to the Housing Portal
    2. Click on "Roommate and Room Selection" in the gold menu bar
    3. Click on "Academic Year 2024/25" and click "Continue"
    4. Navigate to the last available page titled "Housing Process Complete"
    5. On this page, you will see a summary of the roommates you are living with. Click on "Send
    6. Message" next to their name to send a secure message through the Housing Portal.

Your roommate(s) may have also chosen to share their contact information, such as cell phone number and social media handles. You can also use these to reach out to them. If they have chosen not to share it through the portal, we cannot share it either.

  • We will have a limited number of bins available to use on Move-In Day. We recommend that you bring your own dolly or wagon.
  • You can request a room change two weeks after Move-In. Room changes are granted based on availability. There is a $200 room change fee if your request is approved.
