Internship or Co-op?

Internships & Co-ops serve different purposes for different people. Let's find out which option is right for you! 

INTERNSHIP CO-OP
Who is eligible?
Juniors, seniors, and graduate business students Sophomores, juniors, seniors, and
graduate business students 
Is there a GPA requirement? 

A 3.0 GPA is required.  A 2.5 GPA is required.* 
Is there just one type?

Yes, there is 1 model of internship  No, there are multiple models that can
be adapted to your situation. 
How long will it last? 

Usually a 1 semester assignment  Work 2+ semesters with the same
company 
Do I need to be accepted
into Coles College? 
Yes No
Will I be paid?  Is usually, but not always, paid Yes, though the form of payment may vary 
How will the on the job
experience help me? 
Work in a position that directly
relates to your major 
Gives the younger student an
opportunity to explore their field 

*Accounting requires ACCT 3100 with a “C” or better
