Grow in the World of Information Technology

Ever since its commencement in 2009, the nationally-ranked Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) program has been enhancing career options for current and future IT professionals across all aspects of information technology systems.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that employment in computer and information technology will grow much faster than the average for all occupations from 2022 to 2032. About 377,500 openings are projected each year, on average, in these occupations due to employment growth and the need to replace workers who leave the occupations permanently. The median annual wage for IT related jobs was $100,530 in May 2022, which was significantly higher than the median annual wage for all occupations of $46,310.

Why Should I Apply for MSIT program?

High Demand. High Pay. Highly Satisfying.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that employment in computer and information technology occupations will grow much faster than the average from 2022 to 2032. These occupations are projected to add about 377,500 new jobs. Demand for these workers will stem from greater emphasis on cloud computing, the collection and storage of big data, and information security, which are all focuses of the MSIT program at KSU.

The median annual wage for IT related occupations was $100,530 in May 2022, which was significantly higher than the median annual wage for all occupations of $46,310. The success of our graduates in the job market helps further solidify these predictions.

  • Already have an IT job? The nationally ranked MSIT degree can help you explore new opportunities or get a promotion, with flexible class options so you can keep working throughout.
  • No background in computing? No problem. We offer a list of foundation courses to prepare students with non-computing-related undergraduate degrees to transition to the MSIT program.
  • US Bureau of Labor Statistics 2022 survey data shows that across all occupations, the median salary of jobs requiring a Master’s degree is 20% higher than those requiring only a Bachelor’s degree. The difference is even larger for computing related degrees. The precisely focused nature of graduate study enables you to gain very specific skills that make for an attractive job candidate.

Education               Median Annual Earnings      Unemployment Rate
    Doctoral Degree                              $108,316                                   1%
    Master's Degree                               $86,372                                   1.9%
    Bachelor's Degree                           $74,464                                  2.2%
    Associate's Degree                          $52,260                                   2.7%
Note: The annual earnings are converted from the weekly earnings from original report.

  • The US Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a much higher than average growth rate for computing related careers, many of which require a Master’s degree. An MSIT degree will expand the pool of job opportunities available to you. Typical job titles for MSIT graduates:

MSIT Alumni establish scholarship to help Kennesaw State computing students in need

Chris and Amanda Arrendale, who both faced financial challenges as students, became the first individual alumni to establish an endowment for students within the CCSE. The Arrendales announced their “Never Stop Learning” scholarship to help qualified students pay for college

Chris Arrendale graduated from SPSU with a Master’s in Information Technology and Software Engineering in 2004, and his wife, Amanda, graduated from SPSU with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1998. Both struggled with paying for school and recognize the hardships many college students continue to face.

Thank you for your generosity, the Arrendales!
